Hi. Iâm Robin Hall, the creator and teacher behind Pianoforall.
Iâve been teaching for over three decades, and since creating Pianoforall in 2006 Iâve focused on one problem: most adults donât want months of tedious exercisesâthey want to play the music they love, soon. More than 500,000 students have used Pianoforall to do exactly that.
I grew up in my fatherâs piano shop, listening, tinkering, and watching what actually helps people progress. Over time I saw the same pattern: when adults start with rhythm, chords, and real songs, they relax, they enjoy it, and they keep going. When they start with theory and reading alone, most stall. Pianoforall flips the order. You learn by ear first so you sound musical quickly; then we fold in reading and theory so you understand what youâre already doing. The result is steady, confident progress instead of stopâstart frustration.
You learn in small, calm steps: a short video, straightforward notes, and a visible âwhatâs next.â Progress is saved across devices, so you can dip in for ten minutes and still move forward. We build real-world skillsâsolid rhythm, useful chord shapes and patterns, and the little details that make your playing sound complete.

The Classics By Ear courses use the same method, taking you bar by bar through pieces like Satieâs Gnossiennes, Bachâs Preludes, and Beethovenâs Moonlight.
Besides teaching piano, Iâm a cartoonist, painter and therapist. Iâve published two cartooning booksâthe first, The Cartoonistâs Workbook, includes a back-cover quote from Charles Schulz: âThe approach of this new book is one of the best I have ever seen.â – I bring the same clear approach to teaching piano.
The art background is why I keep explanations visual and memorable.
As a therapist, I care about how people learnâreducing tension, building focus, and making practice feel human. Youâll see small mindfulness prompts in the courses for exactly that reason: not fluff, just simple habits that help you stay relaxed and present at the keys.
Teaching adults has taught me a lot in return. Adults are busy. They need lessons that respect their time, explain the âwhy,â and give a quick win every session. Thatâs the standard I hold Pianoforall to.
The Piano Lounge community is there when you want a nudge or a quick answer, and the reviews speak for themselvesâreal feedback from beginners and returning players who finally found a way in.
If youâre new, start with the Free Test Drive. You can try free lessons, download a free ebook and get access to The Piano Lounge.
If youâve had a false start in the past, youâre in good company. Bring ten minutes and an open mind. Iâll bring the steps that work. You’re never too old to learn piano â
I read every message and reply personally.
