PRACTICE REALLY DOES MAKE PERFECT

Keep one thing in mind overall

the quickest way to improve on any difficult areas is REPETITIVE practice

If you find any exercise or technique difficult just isolate it down to one or two bars or chords and repeat hundreds of times over a few days or weeks

when you do that you progress rapidly

many beginners repeat a few dozen times and wonder why they aren’t improving

professional musicians repeat repeat repeat hundreds or thousands of times to build muscle memory

It’s like learning to juggle – don’t worry about mistakes just try again and again – build the muscle memory – relax and repeat

Remember – ISOLATE just a few bars or a few chords if it’s a rhythm and repeat over days or weeks until you can do it with ease – if you keep repeating complete pieces or songs you may be ok with a few bars then you stumble through the more difficult bars and you never really get the full effectiveness of REPEAT practice

Imagine if you were learning to juggle – but when you practiced you juggled for only 1 minute then you stopped and rearranged your bookshelf for 3 minutes then juggled for another 1 minute – it wouldn’t be as effective as juggling for 5 minutes

but this is what beginners do with piano practice – they don’t put CONCENTRATED attention on the difficult bit

Try repeat practice for a few days . You will get there eventually and your hands will behave the way you want them to 🙂

Best of luck
